I'd like to try writing after reading stories, quotes, jokes, current events, mythology, novels, fairy tales, to not only see what I think and feel about these things but to be inspired in my own fiction and non-fiction publishing efforts.
I've recently started reading a novel call "Three Days to Never," by Tim Powers. I've been having a hard time getting past the first 5 pages and I'm not sure why. I feel like my mind is preoccupied with all of the responsibilities I have, but I'd like to start writing about that story as I read it.

Start with Volume
I find myself frequently feeling inhibited by my own thoughts when I read what my mind produces as I write these blog posts. I feel a bit let down by the quality of what I read. I feel like my thoughts are backward, juvenile, naive and lacking in sophistication.
It occurs to me as well that I have been prone to letting these kinds of thoughts get the best of me, quitting before anything of quality could possibly arise from the dross.
I need to start with volume. I need to amass a lot of "content." I need to write a lot, draw a lot, produce a lot of videos, make digital art and just do stuff until I have vast amounts of stuff that I can sift through to find the diamonds. I need to allow myself to be terrible to be bad to be something, even if that something is not very valuable at first.

Novel Characters
Who are my Harry, Hermione and Ron?
Why do I feel like I want my novel to relate to people like the Harry Potter novels did? Is that even possible for me? It was a very rare occurrence and not likely to happen again anytime soon but why decide in advance that I can't do it? Why not shoot for the stars and see what happens?
Voldemort - goal was to achieve immortality through murder.
Anakin Skywalker - achieve immortality through aligning with a genocidal murderer and then becoming one himself.
Harry Potter - goal was to help his friends defeat the threat of Voldemort. Harry was all about his friends.
I have had several protagonists in past story ideas. I have had Alain Latin, Hugh Nivers, Archimagus, Geneva England and maybe some others that I can't remember at the moment.

More Novel Ideas
What do I want to write a novel about?
I want my novel to be about ... my story. I want it to reflect my concern of the true reality of this existence since I am now unsure whereas I used to think I had the answers. I want it to reflect the idea of a person who thought he was something special and then found out he wasn't particularly special and may be quite broken. Of course I'd like the story to have a happy ending because that is how I want my story to be.
I just want my story to be compelling for ME to write. I want to feel passionate and even a little, if not a lot, frightened about writing it. I want it to offend some people and to inspire most people.
It has to be something akin to a battling your dragon or inner demon story. People should both love the character like I love myself and loathe the character like I loathe myself while wanting the character to triumph.
For me I want to write a story which could actually be talking about the possible nature of reality even if I am writing sci-fi/fantasy.
How do I want people to respond to my novel (besides making me the second person to become a billionaire from writing a book and creating a theme park and a series of movies around it)?
Should my story be a coming of age story or should it be more like Vanilla Sky, The Matrix, Memento, etc.

Novel Ideas
Here is a list of novel ideas I have collected and even started writing over the years. Which one should I finish this Summer or should I start up a new one?
- Mr. Hugh Nivers
- The Veil of Forgetfullness
- Slippy the Penguin
- Astral Leverage
- The Game of Life
- RiBot
- The Lever -Archimagus
The Game of Life
Daniel Donnelly and I are planning to write every Wednesday at Starbucks and other WiFi hotspots around town in order to finish a novel by the end of the Summer.
I woke up this morning thinking about what my novel to be about. Of course I would like it to be as popular and successful as Harry Potter but I'm not sure that I am interested in writing a story like that, a story that doesn't touch on the overall meaning of like. It seems that I really want to write a Matrix like story but maybe those kinds of stories are being overdone these days and this is why a story like Harry Potter is so refreshing. It's just a very human tale in a fantastical setting.
The Game of Life --
My thoughts this morning about my novel have to do with life being a masturbatory game the universe plays with itself and the individual lives that end is deaths are just the orgasmic payoffs for the universe at the end. The individuals don't realize that they are just expressions of the one oversoul until death takes us and our consciousness rises to a higher level.

Next Steps
Okay so I have so many projects that need to be begun an completed and the most important project is the one that makes money NOW! What are the projects that are open or that need to be opened:
- Coupow.com - This project needs to either succeed or fail by the beginning of the Fall semester 2011. I don't have time to keep messing around with this idea anymore. Either its going to work or it needs to go away. In order for me to successfully succeed or successfully fail with this project I need to make enough site demos to bona fide owners that I can tell whether or not its going to fly in Chico. If not, I need to move on to Sacramento and see how it goes there. The number of bona fide owner demos that makes sense to me is 50. Of course, I need at least 50 sales just to make the thing fly fora 48 page (188 coupon)book. The only thing I am waiting on right now is the pricing flyer (the one sheet) that I plan to use for my demos. I think I'll just wing the first demo instead of trying to plan the whole thing out. I also need to create a quick contract for getting owners to sign up and get the check. I may also need a coupon mockup that will allow me to fill in the offer copy for the print version. If I could, I would really like to get my hands on a Padfone or something like it, a motorola xoom maybe, that I could use for me sales. What I really need is about $2000 right now. Anybody want to give me a $2000 gift because I have interesting ideas and you want to help me with them? :)
- Swagship.com - Swagship is my "entertain and education" project. I intend to create a learning environment which teaches people how to use Adobe products to get creative and create all kinds of digital assets which they can then sell publish and sell in the swagship store. So the focus will be on creating sellable stuff (SWAG). The main focus will be on creating Stories With Animation & Games (swag), but I also want their to be a place for creating comic books out of story boards and creating characters and putting them on t-shirts, sell the e-book or kindle book version of their story. People will also be able to learn how to create digital assets that support other kinds of storytelling such as branding and marketing. These kinds of assets may include stock imagery etc. So I guess I'm creating a stock agency with takes a very active role in teaching people how to create valuable digital entertainment, publish videos, books, games, animations on various platforms as well as create the same kind of stock that you find at sites like istockphoto.com. The target market for this site are people who want to become their own entertainment / designer brand.
- A big part of the Swagship project is to try to make the creation of that site tie into the creation of my msp 12 and msp 7475 classes as well as an online version which I would like to offer to California Community Colleges and to community colleges and any college, for that matter, all over the country.
- I have stated in the past that I want to create the content for the swagship project before I start laying out the site. This means that I will need to create course content as well as example projects that fit within a well organized curriculum. I am taking a class over the summer that will help me to get my ideas together on how I am going to get this job done by the end of 2012.
- I also want to focus on the creation of some kind of digital assets on a daily basis. I may not be able to create a digital asset everyday, but I want to start on my first one, finish it, try to get some money for it or at least permission to start posting digital assets and then do the second one and the third one, etc. until I get faster at it. I also want to do this because I will become better and "entertaining and educating." I want to be a New Media Expert so it would be good if I at least new how to use, at the intermediate level or better, all of the products in the Adobe CS suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, After Effects, Premiere, In Design and others. As a matter of fact it may be a good idea to approach the creation of these assets by the software product that I choose to create them with. This way I could actually create two digital assets at once. I could record the process of the creating the asset using Camtasia and then sell the digital asset and use the camtasia recording to promote my vlog/blog etc. Start with the digital asset that will be the most fun to create. If I try to keep it fun it will be easier to complete. Also try to create digital assets which will help you to know how to brand swagship using after effects, video, web design etc. Be BRAVE! Have FUN!
- I would like to get my hands on the best current tutorials using photoshop magazines and especially all of the magazines published by Future PLC, and then convert my process of going through those tutorials into my own tutorial product and the unique, "my-styled" digital assets which comes out of it.

Accidental Genius
I've been reading Mark Levy's book on freewriting to gain access to new and great ideas. I've decided to implement some of this type of writing into my daily life.
I'd like to create blogs about topics of interest specifically related to telling stories, creating value that can make you money - a topic I am very interested in.
I think that creating digital assets / digital content is a way to make some good money sitting at your computer. This type of content can include lots of things:
One of the things I'd like to do with the freewriting / blogwriting is to create interesting essays on creativity, digital asset creation, storytelling, marketing, branding, futurism, science, religion...essentially anything I'm interested in and learn how to sell these in ideas in the form of digital assets like a kindle book, videos, websites, animations and just start telling my stories and making them interesting and funny enough for people to want to buy them.
I really want to make money on a regular basis and to help other people to break free of anything that might be holding them back, no matter their age, to make money and be creative and communicate and participative as well.
So for now, I'm going to add at least one blog post of free writing per day. I also intend to use this blog as a personal journal to help me to clear my head of negative thinking that might be holding me back.
Anchors: A Way - While I was reading Mark Levy's book, Mark talked about taking important "thought chunks" from my freewriting and categorizing them and otherwise making these ideas accessible at a future date. I thought it would be a good idea to use Delicious.com to create tagged links not only to pages, but to be able to create an anchor right next to a thought chunk title that was specifically created to be able to access specific paragraphs, sentences, words, ideas, images, etc...exactly where they sit on the page for ease of retrieval just by going back to the delicious page and choosing a tag or keyword. This can easily be done by editing the html and adding an anchor tag with an id. I would like see if there already is a program or website that allows bloggers or other kinds of content creators to create these anchors at the click of a button.
I also consider current buzzwords like "content" to be social anchors to current ideas. In other words, when the word "content" is bandied about people relate to it in a certain way and have a history with it even though the term is relatively current. By using these "social anchors" to direct people's minds you can then create your own hybrid or novel term which can lap frog over the old one and bring more attention to yourself or create a new coined term which will give you a kind of expert status.
In other words, use current jargon to create the next jargon - but you get credit for creating it.
